Section: General News - The 17th Hand-woven Persian Carpet Exhibition will be held in Tehran's Permanent International Fairground from August 22-28.
According to the exhibition's public relations office, 414 foreign and domestic companies will showcase their products including carpets, kilim and gabeh in an area of 35,000 square meters.
The event is a best venue for introducing the Iranian carpet industry to the world, the public relations office said.
Earlier, the Islamic republic news agency quoted deputy head of Iran Carpet Company as saying that the government will grant special facilities for establishment of carpet-weaving factories in a bid to make carpet production target-oriented and promote the quality of Persian carpets.
"So far a total of 200 carpet-weaving factories have become operational using such facilities," Mohammad Abed said, underlining that with the implementation of the plan, orders for Persian carpet as well as supervision over the quality of production will increase.
Commenting on the specifications of the plan, Abed also said that under the plan, raw materials used in the factories will also be overseen by technical inspectors.
He also said that Commerce Ministry has proposed the government to set aside 500 billion rials so as to procure quality raw materials for the purpose. - FNA
