Uzbek talents partake at Oriental People's Festival in France

The Festival les Orientales – the International Festival of Traditional Music of Oriental People ended in the city of Saint-Floran in France. The groups from India, Pakistan, Algeria, Jordan, Morocco, Indonesia and others participated in the event, Jahon information agency reported.

This year for the first time with the support of the Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan Fund the winners of the Yangi avlod ('New generation') festival of children's creativity and Kelajak ovozi ('Voice of future') contest of gifted youth took part at the international contest.

According to the art director of the festival Ms. Sudabe Kia, this year a special attention was paid to Uzbekistan particularly where the national traditions and cultural heritage are being carefully preserved from generation to generation. Upon the invitation of the Fund, Ms. Kia visited Uzbekistan to learn about the young talents and select participants to the festival.

Katherine Motile, the administrative consultant, has also shared her view on the performance of the Uzbek groups.

"I liked very much the dynamic performance of music and dances by the young Uzbek talents. They brightly and colorfully conveyed the uniqueness of rich culture, traditions and history of Uzbekistan. It is not by chance that there is an interest in the Uzbek culture. Suffice it to remind of the fact that Marco Polo wrote about magnificent cities of Uzbekistan in his works. The organization of such events and participation of the Uzbek groups allows to make the public aware of the rich culture of your country".

Yet this is not the first project of the Fund on presenting the national heritage and modern arts of Uzbekistan in Europe. Since the early days when the Office of the Fund was established in Paris in March 2006 more events on popularizing among the European community various directions of culture and arts of Uzbekistan began to be held, as much as more projects on exchanges, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

After performing in France the Uzbek children will visit Portugal where they are going to participate at the Evora Festival of Oriental Music.
