Lebanese TV airs video of Shi'i group's attacks on US targets in Iraq

Al-Manar Television in Arabic at 1446 gmt on 4 August carries the following report: "Asa'ib Ahl al-Haqq fi al-Iraq [Leagues of the People of Right in Iraq] has posted on its Internet website a videotape of four new operations carried out against the occupation forces and soldiers in different areas of Baghdad." The report says that for the first time, the group showed "a qualitative operation" carried out against the US forces.

The video shows footage of the operations with Iraqi patriotic songs in the background. The report says: "Once again, the US occupation and its soldiers in Baghdad are under the fire of the Iraqi resistance, which carried out four new operations in the period between March and April."

Attack on US vehicle

The report says that the first attack took place in the area of Jakuk, targeting a US vehicle. The second attack was carried out with an explosive device in Al-Karkh in which a Hummer was destroyed. The report says that the video shows the soldiers rushing to the area to evacuate the casualties.

The third attack also took place in Al-Kharkh when a roadside bomb went off "completely destroying the targeted vehicle." The fourth attack took place at night against a US armoured vehicle near the area of Abu-Bashir, in Baghdad, in which the vehicle was burnt out.
